What is Ayurveda?

The word “ayurveda” is translated from Sanskrit to mean “the science of life”.

The practice of “ayurveda” is based on the idea of bringing balance in the bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing to do so.  Ayurveda is a personalized approach to health, and knowing your mind-body type allows you to make optimal choices about diet, exercise, supplements, and all other aspects of your lifestyle.

The two main guiding principles of Ayurveda are 1) the mind and the body are inextricably connected, and 2) nothing has more power to heal and transform the body than the mind. Freedom from illness depends upon expanding our own awareness, bringing it into balance, and then extending that balance to the body.

Kathy combines her Naturopathic studies (1994) along with yoga and Ayurvedic studies to offer you support with some guiding principles to live by:

  • eat a colourful, flavourful diet
  • get abundant restful sleep
  • live in tune with nature
  • move your body, tune into your body
  • strengthen your digestive ‘fire’
  • the law of least effort – take it easy!

Kathy can see you in a private consultation, or via Skype, or join her Online Program (more details coming soon on this!) Contact Kathy to make an appointment.
